A cement mixing lorry overturned on 22nd May 2026 at Hall Corner on A16 damaging a garden fence.
This was an agenda item at the parish council's meeting on 2nd July.
The public were encouraged to attend and give their views.
On 13th July at a meeting Lincolnshire County Council decided against a mandatory 20 mph speed limit.
" ... they cannot legislate for a minority of drivers who crash, no matter how serious the impact".
A recommendation to make the corner 20mph was rejected by Lincolnshire County Council’s planning committee on Monday (July 13), with councillors saying drivers should be educated rather than forced to slow down.
Highways have been asked to continue the investigation into the other safety measures:
- Reinstatement of the superelevation of the camber
- Installation of a raised kerb on the bend
- Improvements to the existing crash barrier.
- Installation of a further crash barrier to protect pedestrians walking past The Woodlands.
- Improved warning signage designed by Dawes Highways and Highways.
* Implementation of the free training and awareness raising for drivers, companies and Police that has been offered by Mark Cowan at DEK GROUP NE, and the British Concrete Transport Association.
