A cement mixing lorry overturned on 22nd May 2026 at Hall Corner on A16 damaging a garden fence.

A recommendation to make the corner 20mph was rejected by Lincolnshire County Council’s planning committee on Monday (July 13), with councillors saying drivers should be educated rather than forced to slow down.

Highways have been asked to continue the investigation into the other safety measures:

  • Reinstatement of the superelevation of the camber
  • Installation of a raised kerb on the bend
  • Improvements to the existing crash barrier.
  • Installation of a further crash barrier to protect pedestrians walking past The Woodlands.
  • Improved warning signage designed by Dawes Highways and Highways.

* Implementation of the free training and awareness raising for drivers, companies and Police that has been offered by Mark Cowan at DEK GROUP NE, and the British Concrete Transport Association.

 

Ongoing issues

A16 Junction with The Switchback (Old Bolingbroke Lane)
Long-standing flooding and drainage issue, leading to many potholes in a small area on an ongoing basis. Pot holes here have been repaired on 9th April 2026
