Meeting Communities Against Factory Farming, on Thursday 13 August
Update: Proposed Poultry Development – East Keal / Keal Cotes Application 00805/26/FUL
On Thursday 13th August Councillors and residents joined representatives of CAFF.org at the Keal’s Village Hall to discuss the planning application for six poultry units on land adjacent to the A16, on the East Keal / Keal Cotes border. The meeting was very well attended by residents from East Keal, West Keal, Keal Cotes and the surrounding villages.
Representatives from CAFF.org explained the organisation’s background, its role and its aims, including how it is able to provide assistance and support to small parish councils and local communities in relation to planning matters.
Residents were invited to raise any specific concerns or questions they had regarding the proposed development, and a number of residents took the opportunity to speak. The applicant was also present and was able to explain the proposals directly to those attending and answer questions raised by residents.
An important point was raised by the residents of Manor Farm, Main Road, West Keal. The planning application refers to the site as “Land East of Manor Farm, Main Road, Keal Cotes, Lincolnshire”, and the residents explained that this has unfortunately resulted in negative comments being directed towards them on social media.
They made it very clear that the residents of Manor Farm are not part of, or associated with, the planning application.
They requested that reference to their address be removed from any further correspondence or communications issued by East Keal Parish Council and CAFF.org. This request was fully understood and wholeheartedly agreed.
Overall, the meeting was positively received and provided an opportunity for residents, representatives from CAFF.org and the applicant to share information, ask questions and express their respective thoughts, concerns and opinions in an open forum.
